Portugal is a candidate to one of the two seats as a Non-Permanent Member of the Security Council of the United Nations assigned to the Western European and Other States Group, for the term 2027-2028.
Portugal formally presented its candidature in January 2013.
The elections will be held during the 81st United Nations General Assembly, in 2026.
